New Delhi [India], August 19 (ANI): Union Minister Piyush Goyal strongly condemned the recent incident of a trainee doctor’s alleged sexual assault and murder in Kolkata, West Bengal.
“I strongly stand with all the women and our daughters who are working, and I am sure that in the future, this nation will not tolerate any such incidents,” Goyal asserted.
Goyal emphasized the need for a collective awakening to prevent such heinous crimes.
“It is very unfortunate…what has happened in West Bengal and I am sure that this will awaken the spirit and the conscience of the nation. It’s really a dastardly act and every single day we wake up to more details that are dastardly, added the Union Minister.
The incident has sparked nationwide protests and strikes by the medical community, with the Kolkata police imposing Section 163 of the BNS around RG Kar Medical College and Hospital to maintain law and order.
He expressed his outrage during a Raksha Bandhan celebration with Pakistani Hindu migrants who received Indian citizenship under the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
The celebration, attended by women migrants from Pakistan, was a moment of solace and hope. Sadhvi Rithambara, a spiritual leader, tied a Rakhi to Goyal, who expressed his gratitude and commitment to working honestly and diligently.
The minister, visibly moved, expressed his gratitude, saying, “Today I am blessed that our sister Sadhvi Rithambara is amongst us. She has blessed me by tying a Rakhi. She has actually given me such a protective thread through which I can do my work well and honestly. In a way, this Rakhi was very special…” (ANI)
