Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], August 3 (ANI): Rejecting allegations made against him by dismissed Mumbai Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Waze, Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Chandra Pawar) leader Anil Deshmukh said that someone with a “criminal background” can’t be believed and added that “Waze says what Devendra Fadnavis tells him.”
“5-6 days back, I had levelled allegations against Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis, that 3 years ago he attempted to send the then CM Uddhav Thackeray to jail, attempted to send Aaditya Thackeray to jail and came to me with an affidavit for me to level allegations against them so that they go to jail. I revealed this to the public. Now, this is a new tactic by Devendra Fadnavis. He has caught Sachin Waze and he is using him,” Deshmukh said, addressing a press conference.
He further asserted that someone with a “criminal background” can’t be believed.
“The High Court had said about Sachin Waze that he is a man with a criminal background, he has been arrested on two murder charges, and he is still lodged in jail. Such a man with a criminal background can’t be believed, and his statement can’t be trusted–the Bombay High Court judgement states the same. Did Devendra Fadnavis get only such a man, one with a criminal background? Sachin Waze says what Devendra Fadnavis tells him,” he added.
He further said, “You know who is behind the allegations levelled by Sachin Waze against me. The public should understand all of this.”
Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut reacted to Waze’s remarks and said, “Who is Sachin Waze? Where is he? Is he in the Sabarmati Ashram? When the BJP goes to the polls, they fear losing the election. Therefore, they are doing these things. This clearly shows they are losing. Anil Deshmukh brought information ahead and to answer his allegations, they need a person from jail who is accused and facing charges of terrorism. I am shocked that the media is giving such importance to him.”
Sanjay Raut further said that BJP has brought down the level of Maharashtra politics.
“An accused (in the 2021 Antilia bomb scare) is speaking like a BJP worker. This way they have brought down the level of Maharashtra politics…Anil Deshmukh was a former Minister, he has the right to speak but to put pressure on him, you (BJP) have to take the help of a terrorist. This is your failure…they have lost the election mentally,” Raut added.
Dismissed Mumbai Assistant Police Inspector and accused in the Rs 100 crore extortion case, Sachin Waze on Friday said that he has written a letter to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and submitted all the evidence of alleged bribes taken by former Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
“Whatever has happened, the proof is there. The money used to go through his (Anil Deshmukh) PA, CBI has the proof and I have also written a letter to Devendra Fadnavis. I have submitted all the evidence. In the letter that I have written, I have given the name of Jayant Patil as well,” Waze told ANI.
He further said, “I am ready for that (NARCO test).”
Sachin Waze is also accused in the 2021 Antilia bomb scare and Mansukh Hiren murder case.
The CBI had registered a corruption case against Deshmukh following allegations that Deshmukh as home minister had directed police officials to collect Rs 100 crore per month from bar owners. Deshmukh was later arrested in the case before securing bail.
Former Home Minister of Maharashtra Anil Deshmukh had been arrested by the ED in 2021 in an alleged money laundering case and spent several months in jail.
The NIA arrested Sachin Waze in March 2021 in connection with the investigation into the recovery of explosives from a car parked near Mukesh Ambani’s house in Mumbai. Waze is the prime accused of placing an explosive-laden vehicle near Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani’s house, Antilia, in Mumbai on February 25, 2021. (ANI)
