New Delhi [India], August 21 (ANI): The National Task Force is expected to submit interim guidelines to ensure the safety of medical professionals in three weeks as directed by the Supreme Court on Tuesday.
Speaking exclusively to ANI on Tuesday, Dr Saumitra Rawat, NTF member and Chairman and Head Institute of Surgical Gastroenterology, SGRH, said that the Task Force has been directed to provide interim guidelines within three weeks and final recommendations within two months.
Further elaborating on the primary areas of focus for the Task Force, Dr Rawat said, “I think we will work in two different areas, it has been told to us by the CJI–the first issue is preventing violence against medical professionals, second is to draft a national protocol for dignified and safe working for the doctors, nurses and all the paramedical staffs.”
“So we, or everybody in the committee, we will work together, and we will come up with the guidelines,” he told ANI.
The Supreme Court earlier ordered the formation of a National Task Force in response to increasing incidents of violence against medical professionals and the need for improved working conditions across the country.
“We are setting up a National Task Force which will give recommendations for guidelines to be followed in India to ensure the safety of senior and junior doctors,” Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said.
The National Task Force will consist of a diverse group of experts from the medical field that include Surgeon Vice Admiral RK Sarian, Managing Director of Asian Institute of National Gastroenterology Dr Reddy, , Director of AIIMS Delhi Dr M Srinivas, , Dr Prathima Moorthy from NIMHANS Bangalore, Director of AIIMS Jodhpur Dr Puri, , Dr Rawat from Gangaram Hospital Delhi, Vice Chancellor of Pandit BD Sharma College Prof Anita Saxena, and Dr Pallavi Padma Srivastava from Paras Hospital.
