Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], September 12 (ANI): Addressing the ongoing protests by the junior doctors, Trinamool Congress leader Kunal Ghosh said that the demand for justice is valid and we want CBI to finish its investigation and the culprits will be given the death penalty.
“We want CBI to finish its investigation and the culprits will be given the death penalty. We will not comment on the agitation going on by the junior doctors. Yesterday, the deadline was there till 5 pm to resume work. The Chief Minister was waiting for them. We are also supporting the demand for justice, but many patients are being harassed. We want the CBI to investigate as soon as possible,” Ghosh said.
Earlier, the West Bengal Medical Council in Kolkata held a rally demanding justice in the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case.
The rally of doctors held banners stating, “In demand of punishment for all rapist-murderers and their accomplices in the Abhaya rape and murder case.”
The long procession showed doctors raising slogans and holding banners and taking to the streets to voice their demand for justice in the gruesome case.
Meanwhile, the father of the deceased trainee doctor from Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College said that the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, has not done any work and his family is not satisfied with her role in the case.
Speaking to ANI, the victim’s father, said, “We are not satisfied with the role of the CM (Mamata Banerjee) in the case; that’s why we went to the CBI. She hasn’t done any work. One of the policemen came to our house, they said we have arrested Sanjay Roy and he will be produced in fast track court and will get a death sentence. But the incident that happened with my daughter was not the work of just one person. We have been saying this since starting that persons from the department involved in this.”
The second-year postgraduate medical student was raped and murdered inside the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College on August 9. (ANI)
