Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], August 17 (ANI): Congress leader MB Patil accused the BJP of “bad politics” after Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot approved the prosecution of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the MUDA scam. Patil claimed the governor’s decision was part of a larger conspiracy started by the BJP.
“The Governor is merely a puppet of the central government, and the Raj Bhavan has become an extension of the BJP office. This move against Chief Minister Siddaramaiah under the pretext of the MUDA scam is nothing more than a politically motivated conspiracy,” Patil asserted.
He highlighted that when activist TJ Abraham filed a complaint against the Chief Minister, the state’s top officials had provided enough information to the Raj Bhavan, which should have been sufficient to quash the allegations.
“Despite this, the Governor hastily issued a notice to Siddaramaiah, raising serious doubts about his intentions. His current actions are undesirable and are unlikely to be tolerated by the people of Karnataka,” Patil added.
Patil also pointed out that requests to the Governor seeking prosecution against other political figures, such as HD Kumaraswamy and Sasikala Jolla, have been pending for over eighteen months without action.
“At the time, only BJP leaders were present in the MUDA meeting. This entire situation is a conspiracy to victimize the Chief Minister,” Patil stated.
Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot today granted permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the alleged MUDA scam, according to the Raj Bhavan sources.
Siddaramaiah has, however, been maintaining that “everything was done according to the law”.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar today said that the state government will put all their weight behind Siddaramaiah.
Earlier, a complaint was filed by social activist Snehamayi Krishna against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and nine others for allegedly forging documents to claim compensation from the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). (ANI)
