Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], September 25 (ANI): Following BJP’s demand for Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s resignation after the Bengaluru Court directed Karnataka Lokayukta to investigate the alleged MUDA ‘scam’, Karnataka Deputy CM D K Shivakumar hit back at BJP for not demanding the same from ‘their’ leaders against whom charge sheets have been filed.
Speaking with the ANI, about the court’s decision on the alleged MUDA ‘scam’, Shivakumar said that let the investigation take place.
“Investigation has been ordered by the court, let it happen. Why is the BJP not demanding the resignation of their leaders against whom chargesheets have been filed?” Shivakumar said.
Earlier, Karnataka BJP President BY Vijayendra said that BJP and JD(S) will hold a protest in Vidhana Soudha premises on Thursday.
“I demand the CM to hand over the investigation to CBI and tender his resignation immediately. Tomorrow, BJP and JD(S) will hold a protest in Vidhana Soudha premises tomorrow,” Vijayendra told ANI.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara said that the CM is ready for investigation.
“Chief Minister is ready to face any investigation. Lokayukta Police is an independent body. They are not under the mercy of anybody so they will do the investigation accordingly,” Parameshwara said.
Earlier today, the Special Court in Bengaluru passed an order directing Karnataka Lokyukta to conduct an investigation against Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on the allegation of illegalities in the allotment of 14 sites worth Rs 56 crore to his wife Parvathi by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
Karnataka Lokayukta’s Mysuru district police will have to conduct the investigation and will submit its report in three months. The Special Court’s order came after the Karnataka High Court on Tuesday vacated its interim stay order granted on August 19, directing the court to defer the decision on the complaints against Siddaramaiah.
The order came on the petition of social activist Snehamayi Krishna.
“FIR will have to be registered as per the order. Mysuru Lokayukta jurisdiction will register an FIR and do the investigation,” Advocate Vasant Kumar, representing petitioner activist Snehamayi Krishna, told reporters. (ANI)
