Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], August 27 (ANI): Congress candidate from Dooru Assembly constituency, Ghulam Ahmad Mir, on Tuesday, filed his nomination for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly polls and said that the people are suffocated by the torture of the BJP and that’s why the INDIA bloc has always demanded democracy in the region.
Speaking to ANI after the nomination process, Mir said “The people of J&K did not have any representation for the last 11 years. The people are suffocated by the torture of the BJP and the central government. That’s why the INDIA alliance always demanded democracy in J&K. The public should get the opportunity to choose their representative. The people here will participate and form the government. BJP is frustrated by the unity of the INDIA alliance here.”
BJP Candidate from Banihal Assembly, Saleem Bhat said that if they want peace and prosperity then the people of the constituency should make BJP win.
“I have been part of the BJP since 2008 and I am proud of the fact that I am a soldier of the party. The high command has given me this opportunity, and I have full faith that the people will bless us and give this seat to PM Modi. I appeal to the people that if they want peace and prosperity then the people of the constituency should make BJP win,” Bhat said.
“I don’t have a contest with any other party, I think PM Modi has already won 70% of the contest for me. All this Congress and NC should have come together for the poor, but they are together for the chair. Stone pelting has been ended and there is now politics of development here,” he added.
Earlier today, a National Conference (NC) candidate from Banihal, Sajjad Shaheen, said that their party’s alliance with Congress aims to defeat communal forces in the valley.
Meanwhile, the National Conference (NC) will contest 51 of 90 seats and Congress 32 according to the seat-sharing pact reached by the two parties for the assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. The two parties will also have a “friendly contest” on five seats.
The two parties have left one seat each for CPI(M) and Panthers Party. National Conference announced its list of 18 candidates while the Congress announced its first list of nine candidates.
