Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], March 11 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday announced a committee for the regularization of the daily wagers.
The committee will be headed by the Chief Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir government and will submit its report after six months.
Speaking in the legislative assembly, CM Abdullah said, “I also wanted to know why this situation has arisen in daily wagers issue, we could not do that’s why we lost in 2014. We had worked of their regularization at that time but could not do. I have taken out all the budget speeches; you have promised regularisation in your budget speeches. Then you made a committee. In 16 – 17 budget you said a high level committee has been formed…. 61000 was the number at that time and in 2018 government broke down. After that, nothing happened, and two years back, under the reorganisation act, the regularization was cancelled. Now you are taking up this issue of daily wagers… We are starting from zero now. I announce a committee for regularization of daily wagers. Six months will be given to come up with a framework, number how many daily wagers are there.”
Meanwhile, speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister stated that the government will bring its policy on the issue of daily wagers in the next session after the committee will submit its report.
“A committee has been formed under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary. I have given him the time of 6 months. He will exercise it, and then we will bring forward our policy in the budget session,” CM Abdullah told reporters.
Reacting to the opposition’s claims of “love-letters” to the BJP, the Chief Minister stated that its opposition works to oppose anything and the love letter they refer to is for the people of the J-K, which he doesn’t “hesitate” to own.
He said, “Opposition are named so. Because they want to oppose everything. We were also in opposition and we have done the same. This is the story of assembly and the Parliament. This love letter was not for BJP, but for voters of BJP, PDP, JKNC, PC, INC and was for people of Jammu and Kashmir. I don’t hesitate to own this love letter.”
Speaking on the RSS’ General Secretary Dattatreya Hosabale’s statement advocating for India to be officially called Bharat, CM Abdullah said that the county has three names and one can call it by whatever name they wants to.
“We call it Bharat. We have three names and we call our country by Bharat, India, Hindustan. One can use whatever name they want to. On the PM’s plane, India and Bharat both are written. It’s called the Indian Air Force, Indian Army. Names are different but one can use whatever name they want to,” the CM said. (ANI)
