Jaipur (Rajasthan) [India], November 19 (ANI): BJP National General Secretary Radha Mohan Das Agarwal slammed the Mahagathbandhan after its dismal performance in the Bihar assembly elections and claimed that the “INDI Thug-Bandhan never existed”.
The BJP leader claimed that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is not supporting the INDIA bloc and questioned the loyalty of other opposition leaders to it.
“I’m among those who believe there was never an alliance. I’ve always called it a “Maha-thug-bandhan.” I’ve never used the word “Mahagathbandhan,” and it was over from the very first day it was formed… Mamata Banerjee is not with them. Akhilesh Yadav made a statement that Congress is now dead. Is he with them, or not? Is the DMK with them? After the Bihar elections, Chief Minister MK Stalin stated that elections are won only by working on the ground, not through any other means. Is Sharad Pawar with them? If not, then who is in their alliance?,” Agarwal told ANI.
He alleged that Congress MP Rahul Gandhi insulted” RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav and claimed that “INDI Thug-Bandhan” never got off the ground.
“All that was left was Bihar, in which Rahul Gandhi shot himself in the foot. The way he unnecessarily insulted Tejashwi Yadav was a deliberate strategy to lose the election. Poor Tejashwi Yadav went to Delhi. The Congress filed all the cases against Lalu Yadav. Neither Rahul Gandhi nor Mallikarjun Kharge met him… Congress got 23 seats in the last election and six seats in this election. I hear even those six are running away to some other party… The INDI Thug-Bandhan never existed, never exists, never will exist. This was a rumour spread by Rahul Gandhi, which has been completely exposed and has ended…,” he added.
The ruling NDA got 202 seats, a three-fourths majority in the 243-member House. This is the second time the NDA has crossed the 200-mark in the assembly polls. In the 2010 polls, it had won 206 seats.
The BJP emerged as the single largest party, winning 89 seats. JD(U) won 85 seats, LJP (RV) won 19 seats, HAM (S) won 5 seats, and RLM won 4 seats.
Mahagathbandhan got just 35 seats with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) winning 25 seats, Congress 6, Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) (Liberation) – CPI(ML)(L) – two, Indian Inclusive Party (IIP) – one and Communist Party of India (Marxist) – CPI(M) one seat. While All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) won five seats, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) got one seat. (ANI)
