New Delhi [India], July 22 (ANI): Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi on Monday accused the central government of discriminating against the nation’s students in connection with the NEET-UG exam issue.
He added that the Congress party will continue in its fight against the BJP-led NDA central government regarding the NEET-UG exam row in the best interest of students.
He also claimed that the Central government is discriminating against the nation’s students in the NEET-UG exam row.
His statement comes after the Union Education Minister stated that no paper leak had occurred and gave a clean chit to NTA in the NEET-UG exam controversy.
“The government is discriminating with the students of the nation… In the Parliament, the Education Minister said that no paper leak has happened. He has given a clean chit to NTA…We will continue our struggle in the interest of students,” Gogoi told ANI.
Earlier in the day, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on said that NEET is an important issue and the opposition will keep pressuring the government over the issue.
“Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan should have responded. He spoke about the Supreme Court and PM Modi, but he is not able to say what is he doing on this. NEET is a very important issue for the youth. We have always asked for discussion in the Parliament but the government is not interested. We will keep raising this issue and keep pressuring the government,” Rahul Gandhi told reporters outside the Parliament.
Elaborating on his claim that all major examinations in the country suffer from a “serious problem,” Gandhi said, “It is obvious to the whole country that there is a very serious problem in our examination system. This is not just in the question of NEET but in all the major examinations.”
The NEET-UG 2024 exam was held on May 5, and the results were announced on June 4, which was earlier than the scheduled date of June 14.
Following the release of the results, there were protests alleging irregularities and paper leaks. This was due to the revelation that 67 students had achieved a perfect score of 720.
NEET-UG examination, conducted by the NTA, paves the way for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other related courses in government and private institutions across the country. (ANI)
