Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], August 11 (ANI): Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu on Sunday conducted a comprehensive review of the Bhogapuram Airport project, a significant growth engine for Uttarandhra.
The review revealed that 36 per cent of the airport works have been completed so far. The airport is on schedule for completion by June 2026, when it will be ready to serve the public and bolster regional connectivity, said an official release.
The review covered key aspects of the airport’s development, including the terminal building, runway construction, apron, and approach roads.
The Bhogapuram Airport will play a crucial role in the economic development of Uttarandhra, enhancing connectivity and opening up new opportunities for the region.
The Union Minister emphasised the importance of the Bhogapuram Airport project, stating that the NDA coalition government considers it a prestigious initiative.
He ordered officials to complete the work on a war footing, to make the airport operational by June 2026. This marks the third inspection of the airport works by the Union Minister in the past month, underscoring the project’s significance.
During the visit, Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, along with state ministers and MLAs, conducted a detailed inspection of various components of the airport, including the terminal building, entry counters, apron, taxi stand, runway, and ATC tower. Following the inspection, a review meeting was held with GMR officials responsible for executing the work.
Officials reported that approximately 13 per cent of the work has been completed in the last two months, bringing the total progress to 36 per cent.
The Union Minister urged for an acceleration of efforts to ensure the commencement of flight operations by June 2026. He expressed confidence that the completion of Bhogapuram Airport will be a symbol of pride for North Andhra and play a crucial role in the economic development of the state.
After the inspection, Naidu interacted with the workers at the site, many of whom hail from Srikakulam district and other northern regions. He acknowledged their vital role in the progress of the construction and assured them of support for any issues they may face. (ANI)
