New Delhi [India], March 2 (ANI): Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party President Virendraa Sachdeva hit out at Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday, saying that the CAG reports have exposed how the previous government was not of an ‘aam admi’ but rather of looters who tried to destroy the people of Delhi by failing to give proper hospitals and allowing monopolisation of Delhi’s liquor through the now scrapped Excise policy.
Talking about the CAG report on the health sector, he further warned the people of Delhi that the AAP government was not serving them, but instead was the people’s enemy. He alleged that the previous Delhi government had not utilised COVID relief funds from the union government.
“For health (CAG report), what I am feeling bad about is the Delhi government, or any government’s job is to make sure that they give facilities to the people. But I am shocked seeing this report. AAP has not utilised the money which the union government gave for COVID, and do not want to help people. The AAP government was such that they were less servants of the people and instead enemies of them,” Sachdeva said.
“People have been waiting for one year to get surgery, they showed bed occupancy at 189 per cent, so either three people were sleeping in one bed or some were sleeping on the floor. These kind of expose, how construction was delayed, how rates were escalated, how fake medicines were given, tthis is very worrisome. The last 10-11 years, the previous AAP government just betrayed the people of Delhi. I feel that after these reports the people should understand that the ‘aam aadmi’ government was not that, but they were looters, murderers, who tried to destroy the people of Delhi,” he added.
On excise policy, Sachdeva claimed that just three companies, Indospirit, Mahadev liquor, and Brindco owned 70 pc of Delhi’s liquor during the implementation of the excise policy.
“On excise policy, everyone heard, with the things mentioned in the CAG report, how they (AAP) changed the policy, and they tried to find various ways to get more money, how many ever brands are there, they were kept out. Only three brands, Indospirit, Mahadev liquor and Brindco, manipulated around 70 pc of liquor, meaning they (AAP) did not even let people work with honesty and whoever was also doing, then they promoted illegal liquor,” the BJP leader said while speaking to reporters.
Sachdeva accused AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia of playing a “game” with the policy, assuring action against anyone responsible for it, “Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia played such a game, we will investigate this further and whoever is responsible will be punished.”
Tomorrow, the Delhi assembly session will continue after a break on the weekend. The newly elected Rekha Gupta-led government has tabled multiple CAG reports on the Assembly. On February 28, the CAG report on excise policy was tabled. Tomorrow (February 3), the report on ‘Public Health Infrastructure & Management of Health Services’ will be tabled on the floor of the House.
Earlier on February 28, Assembly speaker Vijender Gupta expressed concern over the tabled CAG report on the excise policy, which revealed a revenue loss of around Rs 2,000 crore. He also discussed about the upcoming CAG report on ‘Public Health Infrastructure & Management of Health Services’.
According to sources, this report will be based on the status of government hospitals and health services (2024) and will ‘expose’ the reality of health services in the national capital. As per sources, this will be the second report of CAG, which will be presented in the assembly.
The report will review the status of government hospitals, mohalla clinics, and other health facilities in Delhi. The CAG report will see how much difference there is between the claims made by the previous government and the ground reality. (ANI)
