Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 22 (ANI): Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat on Thursday expressed confidence in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) winning the Maharashtra Assembly election, asserting that the alliance would soon form the government.
MVA leaders convened on Thursday evening ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly election results.
Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat, Shiv Sena-UBT leaders Sanjay Raut and Anil Desai, and NCP-SCP leader Jayant Patil were among the attendees at the meeting.
Speaking to media persons, Balasaheb Thorat said, “We held a meeting today and are confident of winning this assembly election. We discussed the matter with Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar. If anyone wishes to join us, they are welcome. It’s a positive environment. We are winning seats and forming the government soon.”
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Congress chief Nana Patole also voiced confidence in the MVA’s victory, despite exit poll predictions favouring the Mahayuti alliance to form the government.
Speaking to ANI, Patole cited inflation and unemployment as key factors influencing the elections.
“It is clear that the Maha Vikas Aghadi will come to power, and we will form the government on 25th November. We will ensure that what happened in Haryana does not happen in Maharashtra. Youth, women, and the unemployed have voted in large numbers. The BJP will face consequences due to issues like inflation and unemployment,” Patole said.
Most exit polls for the Maharashtra election indicate that the ruling Mahayuti alliance is likely to retain power in the state, with the NDA also maintaining an edge in forming a government in Jharkhand. The exit polls were released on Wednesday evening following the conclusion of voting in both states.
While exit polls suggest the Maha Vikas Aghadi will put up a strong performance, they indicate it may fall short of the majority mark in the 288-member Assembly.
According to the P-MARQ exit poll, the Mahayuti alliance is projected to win 137-157 seats, with the MVA securing 126-147 seats and others 2-8 seats.
Chanakya Strategies’ predictions place the Mahayuti at 152-160 seats, the MVA at 130-138 seats, and others at 6-8 seats.
In Maharashtra, the primary contest is between the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance and the Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA). (ANI)
