New Delhi [India], July 23 (ANI): On the occasion of the birth anniversary of freedom fighters Bal Gangadhar Tilak and Chandrashekar Azad, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with other BJP leaders, paid homage to the brave hearts who laid down their lives in the freedom struggle of the country.
Taking to X, PM Modi paid tribute to Bal Gangadhar Tilak, saying, “Tributes to Lokmanya Tilak on his birth anniversary. He will always be remembered as a towering figure in India’s fight for independence. He was a visionary who tirelessly worked to ignite the spirit of nationalism and, at the same time, emphasised education and service…”
In another post paying homage to Chandrashekar Azad, PM Modi said, “On his birth anniversary, I pay homage to the great Chandra Shekhar Azad. He was a fearless hero, blessed with unwavering courage and commitment to India’s freedom. His ideals and thoughts continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of millions of people, particularly the youth.”
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also took to X, paying homage to the freedom fighters.
“Humble tribute to the great freedom fighter, nationalist thinker, ‘Lokmanya’ Bal Gangadhar Tilak, on his birth anniversary, who ignited the flame of revolution against British rule for complete independence! Your timeless thoughts, creative world and sacrificial life are a guide for all of us,” Yogi said, paying tribute to Tilak.
“Humble tribute to the great revolutionary Chandrashekhar Azad on his birth anniversary, who sacrificed his life to free Mother India from the shackles of slavery! Your life of sacrifice dedicated to the service of Mother India will continue to inspire countless youth to serve the nation,” Yogi said, paying tribute to Azad.
Union Minister of External Affairs and Rajya Sabha member S Jaishankar also paid homage to the revolutionaries on their birth anniversary.
Taking to X, he said, “Pay homage to Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his birth anniversary. A staunch advocate of the Swadeshi movement and Swaraj, his legacy continues to inspire our Atmanirbhar Bharat journey,” paying tribute to Tilak.
“Tributes to the great freedom fighter Chandrashekhar Azad on his birth anniversary. His unwavering courage and sacrifice will remain a source of inspiration for all Indians,” Jaishankar said, paying tribute to Azad.
Scholar, mathematician, philosopher, and passionate nationalist Bal Gangadhar Tilak helped create the framework for India’s independence by turning his opposition to British rule into a movement. He was the president of the Indian Home Rule League when it was created in 1914. He and Mohammed Ali Jinnah signed the Lucknow Pact in 1916, ensuring Hindu-Muslim cooperation in the nationalist movement.
On the other hand, during India’s independence movement, Chandrasekhar Azad was a revolutionary who formed and oversaw a group of young people who took part in the freedom movement.
