Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 22 (ANI): Expressing expectations on the Union Budget for 2024-25, to be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, which essentially outlines the government’s financial plan to drive economic growth, enhance infrastructure, and promote social welfare, PWD and Urban Development Minister of the Himachal Pradesh government, Vikramaditya Singh on Monday said that he is hoping that the voice of Himachal Pradesh will be represented in the Union budget.
“We hope that the voice of Himachal will also be kept in the Union budget. JP Nadda is also part of the Union government and I hope the interest of Himachal would be protected. In the field of electricity, old pension schemes, and the roads to be built in the hill state, I hope this will be kept in mind wjile presenting the Union budget,” said Vikramaditya Singh.
“The government is stable, and Himachal Pradesh has completely failed the attempts of the BJP to topple the elected government. I request the BJP leadership to stop destabilising the elected governments and corporations for the constructive development of the state,” said PWD Minister Vikramaditya Singh.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the Economic Survey 2023-2024 in the Lok Sabha earlier on Monday.The Economic Survey document, prepared by the Economic Division of the Department of Economic Affairs in the Ministry of Finance and formulated under the supervision of the chief economic adviser, will give insights into the state of the economy and various indicators of 2023-24 (April-March) and some outlook for the current year.
The Budget Session of Parliament, which is commencing on Monday, is likely to conclude on August 12. The session will have 16 sittings spread over 22 days.
Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju said that this session will mainly be devoted to the financial business relating to the Union Budget for 2024-25, which will be presented to Lok Sabha on July 23.
With this upcoming budget presentation, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will surpass the record set by former Prime Minister Morarji Desai, who presented five annual budgets and one interim budget between 1959 and 1964 as finance minister. Sitharaman’s upcoming budget speech will be her seventh. (ANI)
