Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) [India], July 22 (ANI): Expressing expectations on the Union Budget for 2024-25, to be presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, which essentially outlines the government’s financial plan to drive economic growth, enhance infrastructure, and promote social welfare, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that during the regime of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the state has gone under debt trap and the union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi must provide the state with special schemes.
“I would wish the Union Government would provide special schemes for us. During the past 18 months, we were able to provide 28000 crore rupees. During the BJP regime, the state has gone into debt. We are taking loans to clear the debt. Despite all this, we were able to improve our economy, and we hope that by 2027 we will be able to make Himachal Pradesh a self-reliant state,” said CM Sukhu.
“We want to make Himachal Pradesh a self-reliant state by 2027. We spoiled the four months of elections and the four months in disaster last year. We were appreciated by the World Bank, Niti Aayog, and the BJP leaders for our efforts for disaster restoration. We want the support of people in the state, especially the BJP, who have been playing a negative role in the state,” said CM Sukhu.
“Recently, I met Union Minister Nitin Gadkari along with my PWD Minister and CPS Sunder Thakur. We have demanded the Union Minister build the Bhu-Bhu Jot tunnel and also the construction of four lanings. I would ask them not to become a hurdle in it. After the disaster, we did not get any help. We were expecting a special package, but we did not get it. I have taken up the issue with the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister of the country. We are also working to ensure the safe future of the young generation, and we will have to take tough decisions on it. With the help of all, including the BJP, we shall have to move ahead. During the past 4 months, the BJP has spoiled our time in elections, and I would appeal to the BJP in the state to play an important and constructive role of opposition during the next 3 and a half years,” said Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
LoP Jairam Thakur Jairam Thakur said that the Union government and PM have a vision of 2047, and the budget would be in that manner.
“I would like to congratulate the Prime Minister of India that, in the past sixty years, some Prime Ministers have been elected three consecutive times. I would like to greet Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman that there will be a good and public-friendly budget. The Prime Minister has made it clear that the government is working and aiming to make Samridh Bharat a vision for 2047, and I hope the budget will be in a similar manner,” said Jairam Thakur. (ANI)
